The Writer’s Word

My name is Elizabeth. I work for a newspaper in east central Indiana. I was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. I am of English, Welsh, Swedish and Slovenian “peasant stock” descent.

From October 2007 to May 2010 I was a practicing vegetarian. That experiment was felled by Wendy’s Spicy Chicken Sandwich. However, a majority of my diet is mostly veggie. It just became a habit – a good one to have I think.

Secret recipes are a silly concept to me. For an only child I am remarkably open to sharing recipes. Fried chicken or chocolate, now that’s another matter entirely.

I prefer savory, sour and tart flavors to sweet things. If given the choice between a piece of cake or a baked potato with butter and sour cream, I’ll go for the potato. I’m also a big spice person. I like the heat and warmth from cumin, turmeric and cayenne.

So please, enjoy your stay here at The Crusty Bits. Copy down a recipe or share one of your own in comments. Your visit is much appreciated. Cheers!

I love it! I, too, have tried the veggie lifestyle; but Wendy’s evil brother Ronald McDonald put a quick end to that. What can I say? I love me some chicken!

I also wanted to tell you I love your blog title, it makes me laugh and I wish I would have thought of it first!!! :)
